Embraer announced today the selection of Aero Baires as its first authorized service center for Executive Jets in Argentina.

Embraer today announced the enhancement of the flight experience aboard its Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 mid-cabin business jets.

A very light jet ( VLJ ), entry-level jet or personal jet , [1] previously known as a microjet , is a category of small business jets seating four to eight people and often with a maximum takeoff weight of or under 10,000 pounds (4,540 kg), [2] [3] [4] although the Embraer Phenom 100 , HondaJet and Cessna Citation M2 are all slightly over. VLJs are considered the lightest business jets and are approved for single-pilot operation.

Single-engine designs were popular in the mid-2000s, before the global financial crisis diminished the market appeal of the category. Most of those programs: the Piper Altaire , Diamond D-Jet , Eclipse 400 or VisionAire Vantage were shelved and the only maintained aircraft are the Cirrus Vision SF50 , which is now type certified , and the Stratos 714 , which expects certification in 2019. They would compete with single turboprop aircraft. [5]

VLJs are intended to have lower operating costs than conventional jets, and to be able to operate from runways as short as 3,000 feet (910 m), either for personal use or in point-to-point air taxi service. [6] [7] In the United States , the Small Aircraft Transportation System is aimed at providing air service to areas ignored by airlines .

Piston aircraft used for business typically fly relatively short missions of 300-400 miles, using very small general aviation airports that are often without air traffic control towers. Continue .

Turboprops are an attractive option for businesses that need to fly missions requiring 600-1,000 miles of travel between general aviation airports that often have runways too short to accommodate jets. Continue .

Like their turboprop counterparts, jet interiors are often configured similar to a small office, where co-workers can meet and make productive use of time en route to a destination. Continue .

The Challenger 600 is more like an airliner than a private jet.  Comparable to the Boeing 737, it offers much more cabin space than any similar aircraft.  It is quiet, fairly economical, and handles well.  Pilots love to fly it, and passengers love the spacious, comfortable cabin and transcontinental range.

Bombardier designed the original Challenger 601 with the primary goal of passenger comfort. It is unusually wide-bodied and can carry up to nineteen passengers in its 8.2 foot wide cabin, yet it has transcontinental range, and is able to complete nonstop flights between almost any two cities in the United States. The 601 series has improved immensely over the 600, with a more reliable flight system and increased maintainability. The 601-1A iteration signifies the use of General Electric CF43-1A engines and drag-reducing winglets.

The Challenger 601-3A long-range business jet has made leaps and bounds from the original Challenger 600. With better performing engines, greater range and increased reliability, the -3A variant offers plenty of desirable qualities in its class, even two decades later.

Small jets are just one step up from the turboprops jets. They don’t have propellers but regular turbine engines instead. They are an economical mean to fly around, especially for short hops as they are relatively light aircraft. Their range is fairly short and they are best used for flying inside one country or to a neighbouring country.

They can usually handle short runways and reach airports that are considered “difficult”. The operating cost of a small jet is usually higher than a turboprops’ but they make up for this cost in speed. As for turboprops, most of them have a small cabin, so they are ideal for small groups from 4 to 8 passengers; however, some clients find that these jets lack cabin space.
